Robot Wisdom Jukebox

Seen the cool MP3 Jukebox on Robot Wisdom?

As the guy who coined the term ‘weblog’, I wanna propose that this
Flash app makes mp3-blogging practical for the first time. The basic
features are identical to the archetypal weblog: you link your good
finds in reverse order, and people who like your taste check in
regularly to hear what you’ve found, checking them in order, skipping
ones they already know, and when they hear something they want to
investigate further, jumping to this page for a link.

Must look into this.

At last.

Jon Udell’s podcasts are finally available for subscription in iTunes.

A definite must!

A List Apart 4.0

Jeffrey Zeldman describes the visual and structural relaunch:

…both old and new. Old in its mission to help people who make websites see farther and jump higher. New in its design, structure, publishing system, and brand extensions.

FeedBurner Feed Management API

Tired of coming to FeedBurner to analyze your stats? Use the API. Tired of “logging in” via a “browser” to “edit” your feed “settings”? Use the API.

Burning Questions - The Official FeedBurner Weblog has the lowdown.

Bulletin Board Folksonomy

I’ve missed quite a bit happening out there lately. Here’s an interesting example found on Library clips: a helpfull summary of Tagifieds with feedback from the developer and founder of the service.

Must read his latest posts on Technorati search hacks and Simpy too.

Good value!

DTV for Mac OS X

The Participatory Culture Blog announces the countdown to the August 9th release of a preview beta version of DTV for Mac OS X.

Internet TV should be open-source and based on open standards, just like blogging and podcasting. We’re working to ensure that the new mass medium of internet TV is free, accessible to all, and built with independent voices.

FeedBurner Support for iTunes

iTunes metadata support for podcasts was announced on Burning Questions, the Official FeedBurner Weblog:

What does this service mean for you, gentle podcaster? It means you only have to go to one place - your favorite place - (that would be FeedBurner) to manage all of the descriptive data for your podcast. It means we will manage all of your iTunes and Media RSS metadata for you, so that you don’t have to manually edit or alter XML templates to support a variety of overlapping namespace extensions. It means that your podcasts will be fully described in iTunes, Odeo, and any other directory service leveraging the iTunes namespace extensions, and that your rich media feeds will be correctly indexed by Yahoo!, Ourmedia, and others.

MAKE: Blog - HOW TO GPS Tag Photos: Flickr, Mappr, Google Earth….

RSS and Lists

Check this DokuWiki: lists:thingsyoucandowithrss

There’s more to RSS than just weblog syndication and news aggregation.

Bingo! Big time!

Although I’m not a real hardcore “list person” myself - that is, aside from growing tagged link lists, even I can see that this idea has legs:

  • Lists of this and lists of that
  • Lists within lists
  • Master lists
  • Lists of lists

The list is endless really… and RSS is predestined to carry them.

Watch this explode!… with services providng APIs and SPIs

Knoppix 4.0 DVD (P)Reviewed

Kyle Rankin on O’Reilly Developer Weblogs: Like a Kid in a Candy Store

A totally new release of Knoppix was unveiled at LinuxTag 2005, Knoppix 4.0. This is the release that introduces the split between “maxi” DVD and “mini” CD releases. I’ve tried out the 4.0 DVD and let me tell you, I’m like a kid in a candy store.

Note: This DVD is not yet available for download. Klaus often creates a special version of Knoppix for LinuxTag that then gets released to the general public (often with some updates) a few weeks afterward. In the case of Knoppix 4.0 I imagine the DVD being handed out at LinuxTag will be pretty similar in features and software to what gets released to the general public. Still, think of this review as more of a preview of what the download release likely will be.
